He has a wonderful biological/mechanical mix to him, and I love the variety of not-quite-expressions. Seems friendly, despite nearly every aspect of him being very upsetting.
This one I actually struggled with, so I was pleased to read your words. Initially, when I finished it, I was concerned it looked too much like an apple. Given the title, that seemed valid at the time. But I did work hard on the "not-quite-expressions" so I was very pleased to see you mention that. It seemed an essential part of Eat Man's nature that he look like that.
I like that a lot more than apple. I think the apple thing came from an offhand comment someone made when I showed it to them. Amazing how that kind of thing can just cause you to crumble inside. Sometimes sharing art is not always a good idea. But I'd like to think I'm a lot tougher about that these days.

Nothing apple-like about it, I think -- I went straight to "heart."
