SKETCHBOOKS: moleskine 001

I've been wanting to do a long comic about Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and here are some of the ideas I was working on while trying to find a foothold with the story. In the comic, Gawain would have been a deeply reluctant warrior, journeying toward his final reckoning with the Green Knight laboring under some intense misgivings and the constant feeling that he really just should have been a gardener. His squire, a poor boy from a wretched family, wants more than anything to become a true knight. At some point, the two would have exchanged places and Gawain would be dismissed to live out his days peacefully planting flowers. I hope to do this comic some day, but I've got a long way to go before I am up to writing the thing the way I want it written. Funny, awkward, bittersweet...that's what I hope for the tone to be. Hopefully I will find the time.
