AHAB the Movie

This interests me a great deal.

Independent filmmaker Brian "Bullets" Holton has written and is currently filming AHAB the Movie, a short film that is a "modern street adaptation of Herman Melville's novel Moby Dick. AHAB is set in a run down fishing community near downtown Pittsburgh."

That link up above the image will take you to the Facebook page for the film, which Brian keeps regularly updated with information and photos of the entire process, from scouting to set design to casting to filming. To give you a better idea of what they're working on, I've borrowed a few to post here. First, location scouting, in and around Pittsburgh.

Set and scenery design.

The casting, and the characters they play, provides an intriguing look at the decidedly unique direction the filmmakers are taking. First, Brian Holton as Ishmael.

Sean McCollum as Ahab.

Maggie Rosa as the Ocean.

Billy Pilgrim as Coffin.

And Kelly Lee Daugherty as Seagull.

Brian has a Vimeo channel right here where you can see the first trailer and a handful of behind the scenes shorts. Most importantly though, there is an Indiegogo campaign at this link to help fund the film. They've picked up a decent amount of funding so far, but there is quite a ways to go before the October 2 deadline, so if you're as intrigued by this as I am, please click on that link and help out. Every little bit matters a lot.
