Mark Beyer Retrospective this January!
Legendary artist Mark Beyer (stories in every single issue of the seminal RAW magazine, The Adventures of Thomas and Nardo from MTV's Liquid Television, the Amy and Jordan comic, countless album covers and much more) will be the subject of a retrospective titled Mark Beyer: With / Without Text at the Ohio State University's Urban Arts Space in Columbus, Ohio in January and February of 2013. Curated by collector Tom Wagner, owner of many Beyer originals, the show will feature "more than 70 of Beyer's original works, including comic strips, silkscreens, paintings in reverse created on glass paperweights, as well as sheets of plexiglass and original commissioned artwork for record and magazine covers and concert posters. A series of MTV animated shorts will also be on view, along with many other posters, prints, mini comics, books and ephemera." This is actually the first major exhibition of Beyer's work in the U.S. and it goes without saying this thrills me beyond words.
The show opens on Tuesday January 8, 2013 and runs through Saturday February 23, 2013. There is an opening reception on Thursday January 10 from 6 to 8pm. Again, very very exciting news and I hope to see many people there.
