At times, it is easy to give in to the urge to be too literal with these illustrations and to simply depict what is actually happening. that's not what I want to do, and if I was reading an illustrated novel, it's not really what I'd want to see. This one came to be out of a sense of frustration, as I just turned off my mind, stopped thinking, and let the pens do the work.
