MOBY-DICK, Page 025

Title: Indeed, partly lying on it as the arm did when I first awoke, I could hardly tell it from the quilt, they so blended their hues together; and it was only by the sense of weight and pressure that I could tell that Queequeg was hugging me.

  2. This is stunning. I just recently learned about your project, and I am enjoying the art immensely. I am a poet and admire any creative endeavor, especially one of this scope.

I searched backward for this piece as I just completed a poem called "Ishmael Remembers the Counterpane" inspired by this scene. Thank you for sharing your art.

  3. Donna, thank you very much, especially for threading your way so far back (almost to the beginning!) to find this piece. When I am not so sleepy tomorrow, I look forward very much to visiting your blog and hopefully reading your poem. It's strange (in a good way) but quite a few poets seem to have found this project, and I am deeply fascinated by the way these illustrations seem to resonate more with poets than with other artists. A curious mystery.
