  1. Thank you Jeffrey. Actually, painted. I had wanted very badly to do something with a cutout, but I couldn't find a texture I was happy with in a large enough size. This is 3 layers of cheap white acrylic with a gel ink roller ball pen over the top.

  2. It's a nice idea to use humble materials for this project because, after all, the physical object of Moby Dick is just ink and paper.

  3. Anja, that is an intriguing way of looking at this project and one I had not previous thought of. I've always been fond of "humble" materials (although I've often used the term "cheap," which I can see has some definite and perhaps not so desirable connotations) but your comment is a very apt way of connecting the materials with the inspiration.
