How did you achieve that awesome wavy look in the black?
ReplyDeleteWell Brandon, it's funny you should ask that. The waviness in the black is a complete accident, although a happy one. The paper I used for this piece is extremely thin, almost like onion skin, with a slightly slick surface. The black ink soaked almost all the way through, making it somewhat brittle and stiff. Since the ink dried at different rates, that, in effect, "dried in" a kind of stiff waviness. Additionally, this ink tends to dry somewhat glossily if I layer on enough (which I did) so all of those things combined to give this a very subtly textured surface. I don't know if I could get the same effect again if I tried.
