Title: On the occasion in question, Queequeg figured in the Highland costume—a shirt and socks—in which to my eyes, at least, he appeared to uncommon advantage; and no one had a better chance to observe him, as will presently be seen.

HI Matt..
ReplyDeleteLast night I came across a very interesting show on History International about the Essex whaleship that was captained by George Pollard back in the 1800's and sunk by a sperm whale, which was the inspiration for Moby Dick. I immediately thought of you. So I'm dropping in to say hello and catch up on your new pieces. Hope all is well.
Rose, I think somewhere I might have seen a commercial or a mention of that. It sounds fascinating, and I had hoped I would be able to catch it. There is so little time for me to watch television these days. I will be grateful when I am done with this project and I have a moment or two of free time again.
ReplyDeleteI actually have a nonfiction book called "In The Heart Of The Sea: The Tragedy Of The Whaleship Essex" by Nathaniel Philbrick sitting at the top of my 'to read' pile. It came highly recommended and a few visitors to this blog emailed me suggesting I check it out. Again, when there is free time. Oh, to have some free time! Soon...
You probably won't know what to do with yourself and all that free time once you have it. ;)
