Title: He was a darkly-tanned, burly, good-natured, fine-looking man, of sixty or thereabouts, dressed in a spacious roundabout, that hung round him in festoons of blue pilot-cloth; and one empty arm of this jacket streamed behind him like the broidered arm of a huzzar's surcoat.

Matt,
ReplyDeleteYour work just keeps getting better and better. I read your note about the print making class and the honest appraisal of your work. You need not doubt your talent. There are many of us out here who sit in awe of your abilities. You took on a whale of a challenge and you are succeeding magnificently. Thank you for all the hard work and for sharing your passion with all of us.
William, truly good to hear from you again! And many thanks for the kind words. In a sense, I am at times grateful for the gnawing doubts and uncertainties because it forces me to keep pushing myself harder and guarantees a kind of humility. I have an absolutely abhorrent reaction to any human being who is self-centered and arrogant and I would rather struggle with a thousand sleepless nights of doubt than ever become so cocksure of myself and my art that I begin believing my own hype.
