For anyone who didn't follow the Tin House Books or Amazon links, and also because it looks fantastic and I wanted to put it right here on the blog, below is the cover to my upcoming art book collecting all 552 of these Moby-Dick illustrations...
Yay! I had already seen it at Amazon (I've gone for the hardcover - better start saving now!) but it's well-and-truly fabulous, isn't it? Great graphic design.
hey matt, back around again after a spell; juste ordered your book: it looks beautiful. i'm actually going to add another copy as a gift. this is so REAL! how are you feeling? i miss hearing from you.,(want to trade pics? you never said) all best, dear matt, lizzy
Titus, the people at Tin House have really done an incredible job with every part of the book. I have seen the color proofs and looked at paper stocks and the whole thing is really going to be an object of great beauty. I could not be more pleased.
Patty, I think you and I both are probably waiting with the same amount of excitement. It almost doesn't seem like it will be a book of my own work, I am so excited to see it.
Thank you Brad, I really appreciate it. It's one thing to see the art on a blog, and there are some advantages to that. But this whole endeavor to me has always seemed inseparably connected to the world of print and literature, so seeing the art between two covers, paired with Melville's words, is the ideal.
Hello Lizzy! I do indeed have a half-completed email to you still waiting for me to finish it off. It's funny, I always thought that once I finished the art, all I would have to do was sit back and wait for the book to come out. But there is still so much work to do, and my publisher has been kind enough to let me be a big part of the process! So I am just as busy as ever, and still running behind somewhat with the emails. Soon, I promise!
