  1. Hi Matt,
Are these illustrations up for claiming, or are they just posted here to display progress? My Moby-Dick mini engraving is proudly framed at home, but I'd be interested to hear.

  2. Laurie, thank you, the interest so early on is very kind and helps with the momentum of the project.

Oddly, since the "Moby-Dick" book seems to have done well, I've gained some kind of strange credibility so I have more opportunities than I ever had before. Ideally I'd really like to show all 100 of these "Heart of Darkness" illustrations in a gallery setting, to see them all together flowing from one to the next. I'm not sure if that is possible but I think I might be able to pull it off this time.

If that doesn't work, I will certainly again simply be selling the work myself. I'll make sure I keep the blog updated with my plans, but right now I don't know anything definite and because of that I am hesitant to make commitments or take any claims. I really apologize for that, and hope it doesn't seem like some kind of diva move.

  3. Matt, thanks for the reply. Your plans sound magnificent, and I'm curious if these illustrations shall be released in book-form as well? If not, then I suppose I'd have to make the trek to a gallery.
    Best,
    Laurie

  4. Laurie, there is very good news! All 100 of these "Heart of Darkness" illustrations will be collected and published in a book, with the complete text of Conrad's novel, by my publisher Tin House Books in October 2013. So you'll in a very real sense be able to own them all. You can read more about it in this post on my blog.
