Title: ...and there, good heavens! there sat Queequeg, altogether cool and self-collected; right in the middle of the room; squatting on his hams, and holding Yojo on top of his head. He looked neither one way nor the other way, but sat like a carved image with scarce a sign of active life.

  1. I dig this picture--it really conveys a certain transcendent focus that Queequeg exhibits in this scene.

  2. Thank you Rudy. I had a very hard time with this page, and this illustration. It was only when I somehow hit upon visualizing Queequeg, during his meditation, as being as still as a stone that it came together. In the nick of time too!
