If you click on that thumbnail and look at the larger image, you will notice that it is slightly skewed, getting a bit larger from right to left. Look at that straight horizontal line on the top to see what I mean. This is the product of a rather average scanner,an incomplete knowledge of PhotoShop, and having to scan this monster in 3 pieces before trying to knit the images together with software. It does look much better in person. I'll try to fix it, and it will definitely appear with normal proportions when the book comes out, but for now I'm stuck with this slightly off-kilter representation.
ReplyDeleteWhich is disappointing because I am really happy with how this turned out and this is one of my favorite whales.
Maybe disappointed, but I'm revelling in the colours.
ReplyDeleteThank you Titus. I am often saddened by the fact that the only way I currently have to share this art is online. It all looks so much more interesting in reality and these scans never seem to show the subtle details the way I hope they will. Still, people's comments have been very kind and encouraging, and that does mean a lot.
