MOBY-DICK, Page 376

Title: As when the stricken whale, that from the tub has reeled out hundreds of fathoms of rope; as, after deep sounding, he floats up again, and shows the slackened curling line buoyantly rising and spiralling towards the air; so now, Starbuck saw long coils of the umbilical cord of Madame Leviathan, by which the young cub seemed still tethered to its dam.

  1. Wonderful drawing, I am deeply touched by this one. I've had the chance to swim and paddle a canoe close to humpback whales. And I have buried the umbilical cords of my children in my yard and planted trees over. If you ever sell this one, please let me know.

  2. Hiro, thank you so much, it's really amazing to know that something I made was able to touch someone so deeply. That means a lot. I will definitely be selling all of this art some time next year and I promise to keep you posted as soon as that happens. I would always much rather have these pieces go to good an loving homes than anything else. Many many thanks.
