  3. Ha, Scott, yes that is almost certainly an influence! I just couldn't get the idea of a skull out of my head for this one, and I was quite pleased with how I was able to work that into the image of a whale. The white, of course, came naturally.

  4. Titus, I have learned so very very much about different media while working on this project. Prior to this, all I ever did was draw with black ink pens or colored pencils. I am probably not using a lot of these media (acrylic paint, watercolor, etc.) the way one is "supposed to" based on what must be taught in art school, but my idiotic blundering often produces odd and lovely effects like the linocut feel of this piece. A happy accident.
